Team Member Needed for STEP's Early Learning Pathway to Success

Early Head Start Health Specialist

Direct the provision of high quality health services (medical and dental health, mental health, and nutrition), health promotion and health education to Early Head Start (EHS) pregnant women, infants and toddlers. Collaborate with community partners and other EHS/Head Start staff. Assure compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards, the Head Start Act and other applicable regulations including the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Adhere to best health care principles and practices. Direct/provide training and technical assistance to staff, parents and community. Establish/maintain comprehensive recordkeeping and reporting systems. Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or other health-related field; minimum of Associate’s degree required. Requires advanced training and at least six years’ experience in maternal and child health, public health, nursing, health education, or other health-related field. Minimum of six years’ experience in recordkeeping, organization (collaborative environment with children and families preferred), and program/project planning, organizing, implementation and evaluation.

Team Member Needed for STEP’s Housing Options Pathways to Success

Construction Laborer

This is a multi-faceted position requiring the individual to perform tasks and assignments across a broad range of new and rehabilitation-related construction projects, either independently, with an assigned work crew and/or in conjunction with other Construction Supervisors allocated to the project. Qualification include a High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and a minimum of two years of experience or technical training in construction, building trades, or other related discipline sufficient to demonstrate a thorough understanding of construction theory and techniques such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, physical plant maintenance, or any combination of education and experience, sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. This position also must obtain a passing grade in all courses required of a Material Installer by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

Construction Supervisor

Full Time Position Performs tasks and assignments across a broad range of new and rehabilitation-related construction projects, either independently, with an assigned work crew and/or in conjunction with other Construction Supervisors allocated to the project. Construction activities include those designed to increase energy efficiency, health, safety, accessibility and affordability; examples of these activities include, but are not limited, to major renovations such as bathroom, kitchen, accessibility improvements, structural repairs and other major building component projects. Responsible for the construction phase of housing rehabilitation projects including on-site supervision of the assigned work crew, quality assurance, meeting production schedules and codes compliance for assigned construction activities. The position completes detailed paperwork and communicates with customers having diverse social and economic backgrounds. Essential qualifications include a High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); Minimum of two years of field experience in existing residential housing rehabilitation including, but not limited to, remodeling and renovation of existing residential structures, technical training in construction, building trades, design engineering, or other related disciplines sufficient to demonstrate a thorough understanding of construction theory and techniques such as advanced carpentry, estimating, customer service, or any combination of education and experience, sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities; and, Demonstrated ability to supervise work crews in the field.

AmeriCorps Members Needed
for STEP's
Community Collaboration Pathway to Success

STEP’s Community Connect AmeriCorps is currently recruiting members to begin service mid-to-late September. AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for a year of community service. Full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,730 to pay for college, graduate school or vocational training at eligible institutions, pay back qualified student loans or if member is at least 55 years of age at beginning of service term, may transfer award to child, grandchild or foster child. AmeriCorps members receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance, student-loan forbearance, health coverage, and child care for those who qualify while participating.  Members who serve half-time receive a living allowance and a $2,865 education award. AmeriCorps is not employment.
