Building Maintenance/
Groundskeeper

This position performs a variety of tasks and assignments in the maintenance and cleaning of STEP facilities. Duties may include moving furniture; assisting in employee relocation; landscaping; minor repairs to plumbing, electrical equipment, and drywall; painting; maintaining building exteriors; making general repairs; and, performing maintenance-type cleaning to facilities.

Requires high school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years’ experience or technical training in construction, building trades, or other related discipline sufficient to demonstrate an understanding of construction theory and techniques such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, physical plant maintenance, or any combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Team Member Needed for STEP's Independent Living Pathway to Success

Care Manager/Assessor I

Provides assessment and care management services for senior citizens with disabilities. Arranges in-home services, support to family caregivers, and other services to enable seniors to remain independent or to assist them in choosing and entering an appropriate care facility. Develops care plans through evaluating seniors’ social contacts, activities of daily living, status of cognitive functioning, physical health, and economic and other resources. Work is carried out according to established practices, procedures, and precedents, but may require some independent judgment; advice is sought or provided with situations that are more difficult.

Requires bachelor’s degree in social work (preferred) or related field, plus one year of experience in public or private social work that involves comprehensive and/or psychosocial assessments. At a minimum, bachelor’s degree in a related area with one year’s experience described above, or a licensed Registered Nurse with one year of experience, preferably involving home health services, or in a program performing comprehensive functional and/or psychosocial assessments, or any combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college-level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences. Also requires valid driver’s license and insured vehicle, or other arrangements for transportation to fulfill job duties, available daily; the ability to travel out of town and overnight for Program purposes; and, Pennsylvania Criminal History Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance, Motor Vehicle Record check, and the ability to be bonded.

Informational Assistant for the STEP Office of Aging

Provides information, referral, and assistance to consumers via phone and in person. Provides receptionist duties and comprehensive office and clerical support to the Office of Aging. Enters information into and retrieves it from a networked computer environment utilizing documents, databases, and spreadsheets. Does hard-copy typing and filing, as well as performing general office and clerical operations.

Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant

STEP is looking for a collaborative relationship with an Early Childhood Mental Health professional to perform independent consulting for Head Start. The position involves working with staff and families to enable timely intervention and effective identification of infant, toddler, and preschool child and family mental health concerns. Includes group and individual observations and consultations.

Requires a minimum of Master’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology with knowledge of infant, toddler and preschool child development and mental health, and a minimum of two years of experience working with young children and their families; MSW preferred. Current PA Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI certifications, and documentation of professional licensure and certificate of insurance required.

AmeriCorps Members Needed
for STEP's
Community Collaboration Pathway to Success

STEP’s Community Connect AmeriCorps is currently recruiting members to begin service mid-to-late September. AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for a year of community service. Full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,815 to pay for college, graduate school or vocational training at eligible institutions, pay back qualified student loans or if member is at least 55 years of age at beginning of service term, may transfer award to child, grandchild or foster child. AmeriCorps members receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance, student-loan forbearance, health coverage, and child care for those who qualify while participating.  Members who serve half-time receive a living allowance and a $2,907.50 education award. AmeriCorps is not employment.
