Senior Community Center Manager

Renovo position; 25-30 hours per week. Team member needed within STEP’s Independent Living Pathway to Success. Coordinates, directs and leads activities including but not limited to the areas of health, exercise, recreation and nutrition for a senior community center, and attends to consumers while they participate in center activities. Supervises volunteers and performs other related activities to ensure the distribution of Meals-on-Wheels to homebound seniors and the provision of meals at the senior center. Minimum qualifications include: post-secondary education or equivalent experience in Personal Training, Exercise, Recreation, Health and Fitness, Nutrition or Social Services with demonstrable ability and knowledge in several or all of these areas; Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance and the ability to be bondable; and, valid driver’s license and an insured vehicle available daily, or other arrangements for transportation in order to fulfill job duties.

Transportation Driver I

Delivering essential transportation services within STEP’s Independent Living Pathway to Success, the Shared-Ride Driver is responsible to provide safe and efficient transportation services. In summary, the Driver will operate a mini-van, van, small transit bus or other assigned STEP vehicle to transport customers from point of pick-up to the point of delivery; program vehicle will be wheelchair-accessible. A Driver must provide general and reasonable assistance for all shared-ride customers by providing door-to-door service. This assistance includes, but is not limited to the following: pushing and securing wheelchairs; helping carry personal items; and/or, helping load, unload, and carry groceries. A Driver must also maintain positive communication with customers, other staff and the general public, and assist with other transportation-related tasks, as needed. Requires a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and an adequately insured vehicle or access to reliable transportation, and be at least 21 years of age. Previous professional passenger transport experience is preferred.

STEP, Inc. is seeking a qualified professional interested in providing vision, positive leadership, and oversight to STEP’s Head Start and related Early Learning Pathway programs. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for comprehensive, integrated planning, systems design and implementation, programmatic and services coordination, monitoring and reporting, as well as promoting and furthering the values and mission of STEP, Inc. Minimum requirements: master’s degree in social services, child development, business administration or a related field and at least three years of related experience; or, a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of related experience. Five additional years of related experience in government, education, or human services, and three years of administrative, supervisory, and management experience are also required.

Salary is based upon experience, starting and ranging from $55,000 to $60,000 annually.

Team Member Needed for STEP's Housing Options Pathway to Success

Residential Construction Supervisor

Performs tasks and assignments across a broad range of new and rehabilitation-related construction projects, either independently, with an assigned work crew and/or in conjunction with other Construction Supervisors allocated to the project. Construction activities include those designed to increase energy efficiency, health, safety, accessibility and affordability; examples of these activities include, but are not limited, to major renovations such as bathroom, kitchen, accessibility improvements, structural repairs and other major building component projects. Responsible for the construction phase of housing rehabilitation projects including on-site supervision of the assigned work crew, quality assurance, meeting production schedules and codes compliance for assigned construction activities. The position completes detailed paperwork and communicates with customers having diverse social and economic backgrounds. Minimum requirements include the following: high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); minimum of two years of field experience in existing residential housing rehabilitation including, but not limited to, remodeling and renovation of existing residential structures, technical training in construction, building trades, design engineering, or other related disciplines sufficient to demonstrate a thorough understanding of construction theory and techniques such as advanced carpentry, estimating, customer service, or any combination of education and experience, sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities; and, demonstrated ability to supervise work crews in the field.

AmeriCorps Members Needed

Community Collaboration Pathway to Success

STEP’s Community Connect AmeriCorps is currently recruiting members to begin service mid-to-late September. AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for a year of community service. Full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,550 to pay for college, graduate school or vocational training at eligible institutions, pay back qualified student loans or if member is at least 55 years of age at beginning of service term, may transfer award to child, grandchild or foster child. AmeriCorps members receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance, student-loan forbearance, health coverage, and child care for those who qualify while participating.  Members who serve part-time or quarter-time receive a partial Award and a living allowance. AmeriCorps is not employment.
