Clinton County Community Center (CCCC) Coordinator

Provides information, referral and assistance to customers by telephone and in person at the CCCC for all of STEP’s Programs. Provides receptionist duties, and comprehensive office and clerical support to various programs, utilizing a networked computer environment. Assist with special events and the coordination of them facility-wide. Specifically with STEP Office of Aging, serves as backup to the APPRISE coordinator and assists in the APPRISE program as needed. APPRISE is a free health insurance counseling program designed to help older Pennsylvanians with Medicare. Provides connection to STEP Administration through open lines of communication and implementation of agency-wide initiatives. Qualifications include strong communication skills, the ability to remain professional when dealing with customers, demonstrable experience with creating databases and/or spreadsheets, and post-secondary education or equivalent experience, plus two (2) years of experience in a community service organization or business. Experience with health insurance preferred.

Duties involve supporting the Early Learning staff team with information/data management within a networked computer environment, including data entry, creation of spreadsheets and databases, analysis, tracking, record-keeping, reporting; file management, and a wide variety of day-to-day operational supports. Requires strong communication skills, a high school diploma or GED Certificate and one year’s experience in office work. Also requires demonstrable experience creating databases and spreadsheets, working with a wide variety of desktop productivity tools and ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute. PA Child Protective Services Law certifications are also required.

APPRISE is a free health insurance counseling program designed to help older Pennsylvanians with Medicare. This position recruits screens, trains and schedules volunteers for the Office of Aging’s APPRISE Program. The position provides overall leadership, guidance and direction to the APPRISE volunteer counselors working in that Program in both Lycoming and Clinton Counties. This position provides information and referral services to consumers by telephone and in the office. This position requires the following: post-secondary education or its equivalent plus two (2) years of experience in a community service organization or business; experience with health insurance preferred; and, strong communication skills including listening, understanding, informing and speaking; amiable disposition and ability to remain professional when dealing with telephone callers or visitors.

Care Manager/Assessor I

This entry-level position provides assessment and care management services to arrange in-home services for senior citizens with disabilities and support to family caregivers and other services to enable senior citizens to remain independent or assist them in choosing and entering an appropriate facility to care for them. Position develops care plans through and evaluation of the senior citizen’s social contacts and supports, their activities of daily living, status of their cognitive functioning, their physical health and their economic and other resources. Work is carried out according to established practices, procedures and precedents, but may require some independent judgment; advice is sought or provided with situations that are more difficult. Bachelor’s degree in social work with one year experience in public or private social work that involves comprehensive and/or psychosocial assessments is preferred; at minimum, bachelor’s degree in a related area with the one year of experience described above, or a licensed Registered Nurse with one year of experience, preferably involving home health services, or in a program performing comprehensive functional and/or psychosocial assessments, or any combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities, including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.

AmeriCorps Members Needed
for STEP's
Community Collaboration Pathway to Success

STEP’s Community Connect AmeriCorps is currently recruiting members to begin service mid-to-late September. AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for a year of community service. Full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,730 to pay for college, graduate school or vocational training at eligible institutions, pay back qualified student loans or if member is at least 55 years of age at beginning of service term, may transfer award to child, grandchild or foster child. AmeriCorps members receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance, student-loan forbearance, health coverage, and child care for those who qualify while participating.  Members who serve half-time receive a living allowance and a $2,865 education award. AmeriCorps is not employment.
