Customer Assistance Specialist

This position provides receptionist, informational, and both general and specialized clerical support to the Utilities Assistance Program. Work involves providing customers with initial resource and referral information, entering information into a computer and performing specialized customer assistance for utility-related programs, such as OnTrack. Work involves recording and processing data, maintaining customer files and follow-up on incomplete information. Work also involves providing general clerical support to the Program. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or GED Certificate, one year’s experience in office work, and computer training and documented familiarity with word processing programs; familiarity with data entry into spreadsheets and their printing is preferred.

Family Advocate

Provides high-quality health, mental health, nutrition, parent engagement, and social services to Head Start infants, toddlers, and preschool children and their families, and to pregnant women and their families. Associate’s degree in social services, human services, adult education, family services, early childhood education or other related field, preferred; high school diploma or GED required; minimum of one year of experience working with adults and with collecting, organizing, recording and processing information. Current PA Act 33 and FBI clearances required.

Team Member Needed for STEP's Independent Living Pathway to Success

Protective Services Worker

This position primarily investigates reports of abuse, neglect, abandonment and exploitation, and develops care plans to eliminate imminent risk to senior citizens and resolve the problems causing the need for Protective Services. When assigned this position provides assessment, care management and related casework services to arrange in-home services for senior citizens with disabilities and support to family caregivers and other services to enable senior citizens to remain independent or assist them in choosing and entering an appropriate facility to care for them. This position develops care plans through an evaluation of the senior citizen’s social contacts and supports, their activities of daily living, status of their cognitive functioning, their physical health and their economic and other resources. Minimum qualifications include the following: bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field; two years of experience in public or private social work that involves comprehensive and/or psychosocial assessments, or a licensed Registered Nurse with two years of experience, preferably involving home health services, or in a program performing comprehensive functional and/or psychosocial assessments; and, one year of experience as an entry-level care manager/caseworker within an aging services program.

Team Member Needed to Support All of STEP's Pathways to Success

Computer Support Specialist

Twenty-four hours per week plus benefits position. Provides support to personal computer users of STEP, Inc. and its Pathways to Success. Assists computer users with training, testing, security, troubleshooting and problem solving of desktop systems. Serves as liaison for current information on agency software and hardware standards and policies. Maintains computer workstations, by configuring, installing, and repairing. Minimum qualifications include the following: associate’s degree from a business or technical school, or a college, specializing in computer information systems or a related field; and, two years of experience with the following: personal computer software used in desktop and networking environments, including, but not limited to Windows operating systems, and Microsoft Office; personal computer hardware used in desktop and networking environments, including, but not limited to all internal computer components, network connectivity components, computer peripherals, and tools which apply; and, voice and data wiring, testing and the tools that apply.

AmeriCorps Members Needed
for STEP's
Community Collaboration Pathway to Success

STEP’s Community Connect AmeriCorps is currently recruiting members to begin service mid-to-late September. AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for a year of community service. Full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,550 to pay for college, graduate school or vocational training at eligible institutions, pay back qualified student loans or if member is at least 55 years of age at beginning of service term, may transfer award to child, grandchild or foster child. AmeriCorps members receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance, student-loan forbearance, health coverage, and child care for those who qualify while participating.  Members who serve part-time or quarter-time receive a partial Award and a living allowance. AmeriCorps is not employment.
