Team Member Needed for STEP's Early Learning Pathway to Success

Behavioral Specialist

Provide behavioral support within a typical preschool classroom setting to individual children with developmental delays and/or social–emotional/behavioral concerns. Provide behavioral strategies to help strengthen the children’s social–emotional skills and improve their ability to learn. Monitor, collect, and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of implementation. Support teaching staff in the establishment and maintenance of positive and productive partnerships with families.

Requires Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Psychology, or related field and a minimum of two years’ professional experience observing, assessing, planning, and implementing individual and group activities for young children, including those with disabilities and mental health and behavioral issues. Behavioral health training and/or experience is preferred. Also requires PA Child Protective Services Law certifications and the daily availability of reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.

Outreach Coordinator

Detail-oriented, public contact position that involves entering information into a computer, performing specialized customer services or performing specialized customer assessment and eligibility services for STEP’s One-Stop Program. Provides customers with resource and referral information to meet identified needs. Work involves recording and processing data, maintaining customer files, and following up on incomplete information.

Requires bachelor’s degree in a human service field and/or equivalent experience to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have strong communication skills and demonstrable experience with utilizing databases and/or spreadsheets, entering data accurately, and printing reports. Requires current PA Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances.

Care Manager/Assessor I

This entry-level position provides assessment and care management services for senior citizens with disabilities. Arranges in-home services for these seniors, support to the family caregivers, and other services to enable the seniors to remain independent or to assist them in choosing and entering an appropriate care facility.

Requires bachelor’s degree in social work (preferred) or related field, plus one year of experience in public or private social work that involves comprehensive and/or psychosocial assessments; or a licensed Registered Nurse with one year of experience, preferably involving home health services, or in a program performing comprehensive functional and/or psychosocial assessments, or any combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities, including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences. Must have Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance and the ability to be bonded.

Head Start

Team Member Needed for STEP's Early Learning Pathway to Success

Head Start Teacher Assistant Floater

This specialized position includes placement in various program locations based on program need, as determined by the Center-Based Manager. Under the supervision of the teacher, provides a safe and nurturing environment, responsive care, and high-quality individualized learning experiences to a group of young children. Uses age-appropriate materials and evidence-based best practices to support children’s growing social, emotional, intellectual, language, motor, and cognitive competencies. Replaces a Teacher Assistant in his/her absence. Provides additional Positive Behavior Intervention and Support in the classroom setting. Establishes and maintains positive and productive partnerships with the children’s families, community partners, and Head Start staff. Complies with head Start Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, and other applicable regulations and laws. Adheres to early learning and family support principles. Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) in the Center-Based Setting or a high school diploma or GED certificate and willingness to obtain CDA with two (2) years of hire, unless funding requires CDA upon employment. Minimum of one year experience working with young children. Bilingual English-Spanish desirable.

AmeriCorps Members Needed
for STEP's
Community Collaboration Pathway to Success

STEP’s Community Connect AmeriCorps is currently recruiting members to begin service mid-to-late September. AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for a year of community service. Full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,730 to pay for college, graduate school or vocational training at eligible institutions, pay back qualified student loans or if member is at least 55 years of age at beginning of service term, may transfer award to child, grandchild or foster child. AmeriCorps members receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance, student-loan forbearance, health coverage, and child care for those who qualify while participating.  Members who serve half-time receive a living allowance and a $2,865 education award. AmeriCorps is not employment.
