Early Intervention & Mental Health Lead Specialist

Design and implement multidisciplinary, evidence-based, responsive approaches and practices that promote mental wellness and behavioral health in EHS pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and their families. Direct the process of identification of children with disabilities and pregnant women and parents who need further services and support. Refer to and monitor early intervention, mental health and/or other community services. Provide expert guidance on mental health, early intervention and disabilities topics. Schedule and direct the work of the Early Learning Mental Health Consultant. Establish and maintain positive and productive partnerships with staff and families and meaningful collaboration with community partners. Adhere to early learning and family support principles, Head Start Performance Standards, the Head Start Act and other applicable laws and regulations.

Requires Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Human Services or related field and a minimum of three years’ experience in early childhood or a related field. Demonstrable experience with early intervention, disabilities, special needs, and at-risk conditions preferred. Also requires PA Child Protective Services Law certifications and the daily availability of reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.

Lead Family Navigator

Supervise Service Navigation staff to assure program’s implementation and performance, using supervisory skills to enforce policies and regulations, motivate staff, and provide support and direction. Assist with providing assistance to individuals and families with multiple needs, helping them to obtain and maintain self-sufficiency through a holistic case management approach. Review enrollment applications and assessments to engage and collaborate with customers to establish goals that facilitate self-empowerment and work towards self-sufficiency. Work in partnership with other STEP programs to meet the needs of program participants.

Requires bachelor’s degree in a social service field and/or equivalent experience and demonstrable experience with federal, state, and city laws, programs and resources, plus five years’ casework experience working with diverse individuals and other social service agencies. Requires current PA Act 33 Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances.

Detail-oriented, public contact position that involves entering information into a computer, performing specialized customer services or performing specialized customer assessment and eligibility services for STEP’s One-Stop Program. Provides customers with resource and referral information to meet identified needs. Work involves recording and processing data, maintaining customer files, and following up on incomplete information.

Requires bachelor’s degree in a human service field and/or equivalent experience to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have strong communication skills and demonstrable experience with utilizing databases and/or spreadsheets, entering data accurately, and printing reports. This entry-level position provides assessment and care management services for senior citizens with disabilities. Arranges in-home services for these seniors, support to the family caregivers, and other services to enable the seniors to remain independent or to assist them in choosing and entering an appropriate care facility.

Requires bachelor’s degree in social work (preferred) or related field, plus one year of experience in public or private social work that involves comprehensive and/or psychosocial assessments; or a licensed Registered Nurse with one year of experience, preferably involving home health services, or in a program performing comprehensive functional and/or psychosocial assessments, or any combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities, including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences. Must have Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance and the ability to be bonded.

AmeriCorps Members Needed
for STEP's
Community Collaboration Pathway to Success

STEP’s Community Connect AmeriCorps is currently recruiting members to begin service mid-to-late September. AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for a year of community service. Full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,730 to pay for college, graduate school or vocational training at eligible institutions, pay back qualified student loans or if member is at least 55 years of age at beginning of service term, may transfer award to child, grandchild or foster child. AmeriCorps members receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance, student-loan forbearance, health coverage, and child care for those who qualify while participating.  Members who serve half-time receive a living allowance and a $2,865 education award. AmeriCorps is not employment.
