Wellness and Nutrition Initiative Coordinator

The Wellness and Nutrition Initiative Coordinator is responsible for the developing, planning, organizing, coordinating and implementation of programs focused on health, wellness and nutrition. This position will coordinate wellness and nutrition initiatives with key community partners, organizations with similar missions, as well as STEP Inc. administration, staff and customers. Direct/provide programs, workshops, training and technical assistance to staff, customers and the community. Establish and maintain comprehensive recordkeeping and reporting systems as well as assure compliance with program outcome reports, and grant- related requirements. Coordinate and supervise volunteers as needed.

Accountant I

Supporting STEP, Inc. and all of its Pathways to Success, this is highly responsible work in the fiscal administration of corporate financial systems, exercising initiative and independent judgment within the framework of existing policies, procedures and precedents. Work involves applying prescribed accounting principles and techniques to the treatment of accounting transactions, and the preparation, maintenance and control of accounting documents, records and systems. The position prepares financial status reports, reimbursement requests and invoices. The position assists in providing technical assistance to program directors on fiscal administration issues, in budgeting and monitoring, and in other areas of corporate fiscal administration, as assigned. Minimum qualifications include the following: bachelor’s degree in accounting with three years accounting experience which includes computerized fund accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities; and, experience which demonstrates technological competence, including the ability to understand, capitalize upon and enhance information system within the framework of a complex computer network utilizing common word processing, electronic messaging, spreadsheet and database software.

Construction Laborer

This is a multi-faceted position requiring the individual to perform tasks and assignments across a broad range of new and rehabilitation-related construction projects, either independently, with an assigned work crew and/or in conjunction with other Construction Supervisors allocated to the project. Qualification include a High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and a minimum of two years of experience or technical training in construction, building trades, or other related discipline sufficient to demonstrate a thorough understanding of construction theory and techniques such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, physical plant maintenance, or any combination of education and experience, sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. This position also must obtain a passing grade in all courses required of a Material Installer by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

Center Based Manager

This position provides specialized leadership, administration, management, training and technical assistance in early childhood education to supervisory and direct service personnel across all program options. Work involves planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, supervising, and evaluating program operations, services, staff and providers to assure the delivery of high-quality preschool education services. Collaboration with Education Managers, and direct service personnel (e.g. teachers and home visitors) is required on an ongoing basis. Work is driven by the Head Start Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, principles, best practices and current research in the early childhood field. Ongoing, internal collaboration and integrated planning with other Managers and Specialists, as well as the Head Start Director and Deputy Director is essential. Comprehensive record keeping is required.

Construction Supervisor

Full Time Position Performs tasks and assignments across a broad range of new and rehabilitation-related construction projects, either independently, with an assigned work crew and/or in conjunction with other Construction Supervisors allocated to the project. Construction activities include those designed to increase energy efficiency, health, safety, accessibility and affordability; examples of these activities include, but are not limited, to major renovations such as bathroom, kitchen, accessibility improvements, structural repairs and other major building component projects. Responsible for the construction phase of housing rehabilitation projects including on-site supervision of the assigned work crew, quality assurance, meeting production schedules and codes compliance for assigned construction activities. The position completes detailed paperwork and communicates with customers having diverse social and economic backgrounds. Essential qualifications include a High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); Minimum of two years of field experience in existing residential housing rehabilitation including, but not limited to, remodeling and renovation of existing residential structures, technical training in construction, building trades, design engineering, or other related disciplines sufficient to demonstrate a thorough understanding of construction theory and techniques such as advanced carpentry, estimating, customer service, or any combination of education and experience, sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities; and, Demonstrated ability to supervise work crews in the field.

Team Member Needed for STEP's Independent Living Pathway to Success

Care Manager/Assessor I

This entry-level position provides assessment and care management services to arrange in-home services for senior citizens with disabilities and support to family caregivers and other services to enable senior citizens to remain independent or assist them in choosing and entering an appropriate facility to care for them. Position develops care plans through an evaluation of the senior citizen’s social contacts and supports, their activities of daily living, status of their cognitive functioning, their physical health and their economic and other resources. Work is carried out according to established practices, procedures and precedents, but may require some independent judgment; advice is sought or provided with situations that are more difficult. Minimum qualifications include the following: bachelor’s degree in social work with one year experience in public or private social work that involves comprehensive and/or psychosocial assessments is preferred; at minimum, bachelor’s degree in a related area with the one year of experience described above, or a licensed Registered Nurse with one year of experience, preferably involving home health services, or in a program performing comprehensive functional and/or psychosocial assessments.

AmeriCorps Members Needed
for STEP's
Community Collaboration Pathway to Success

STEP’s Community Connect AmeriCorps is currently recruiting members to begin service mid-to-late September. AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for a year of community service. Full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,550 to pay for college, graduate school or vocational training at eligible institutions, pay back qualified student loans or if member is at least 55 years of age at beginning of service term, may transfer award to child, grandchild or foster child. AmeriCorps members receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance, student-loan forbearance, health coverage, and child care for those who qualify while participating.  Members who serve part-time or quarter-time receive a partial Award and a living allowance. AmeriCorps is not employment.
