AmeriCorps Member Development Coordinator

Provides comprehensive member development services to STEP AmeriCorps members in conjunction with the Program Manager, including promoting engagement and enthusiasm of program members; recruiting, interviewing, and placing members at service sites and interacting with them regularly to ensure they are making the most of their service terms in those placements; and coordinating trainings and events, key to members’ reaching service goals.

Qualifications include strong communication, organization, and leadership skills and a bachelor’s degree in social or human services or a related field, with two years’ experience in a community service organization or business. Background clearances are required.

This is a 24-hour per week, benefits-eligible position.

Team Member Needed for STEP's Early Learning Pathway to Success

Preschool Teacher (Clinton County)

This is a specialized position in Clinton County at the full-performance level guiding and instructing preschool children, some with disabilities. Work involves creative planning and implementing an individualized educational program focusing on five key areas of the Early Learning Framework: Social–Emotional, Physical, Language & Literacy, Approaches to Learning, and Cognitive & General Knowledge.

Requires post-secondary degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; bachelor’s degree in ECE preferred; and a minimum of one year of experience working with young children. Bilingual English-Spanish is desirable. PA Child Protective Services Law certifications are also required.

Team Member Needed for STEP's Early Learning Pathway to Success

Head Start Teacher Assistant Floater

Based on program needs, the Teacher Assistant Floater replaces a Teacher Assistant in his or her absence and could be placed in various Clinton or Lycoming County locations. Under the teacher’s supervision, this position provides a safe and nurturing environment, responsive care, and high-quality individualized learning experiences to a group of young children while using age-appropriate materials and evidence-based best practices to support children’s growing social, emotional, intellectual, language, motor, and cognitive competencies. Provides additional Positive Behavior Intervention and Support in the classroom setting.

Requires Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) in the Center-Based Setting, or high school diploma or GED and willingness to obtain CDA within two (2) years of hire, and a minimum of one year of experience working with young children. Bilingual English–Spanish is desirable. Must have current PA Act 33 Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances.

STEP Service Navigation seeks an individual to provide holistic case management to individuals and families with multiple needs to assist them with setting goals toward obtaining and maintaining self-sufficiency; works in collaboration with other STEP programs and community partners.

Requires bachelor’s degree in a social service field and/or equivalent experience, plus one year of casework experience, with demonstrable experience with federal, state, and city laws, programs, and resources. Requires current PA Act 33 Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI clearances.

Care Manager/Assessor I

This entry-level position provides assessment and care management services for senior citizens with disabilities. Arranges in-home services for these seniors, support to the family caregivers, and other services to enable the seniors to remain independent or to assist them in choosing and entering an appropriate care facility.

Requires bachelor’s degree in social work (preferred) or related field, plus one year of experience in public or private social work that involves comprehensive and/or psychosocial assessments; or a licensed Registered Nurse with one year of experience, preferably involving home health services, or in a program performing comprehensive functional and/or psychosocial assessments, or any combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities, including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences. Must have Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance and the ability to be bonded.

AmeriCorps Members Needed
for STEP's
Community Collaboration Pathway to Success

STEP’s Community Connect AmeriCorps is currently recruiting members to begin service mid-to-late September. AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for a year of community service. Full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,730 to pay for college, graduate school or vocational training at eligible institutions, pay back qualified student loans or if member is at least 55 years of age at beginning of service term, may transfer award to child, grandchild or foster child. AmeriCorps members receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance, student-loan forbearance, health coverage, and child care for those who qualify while participating.  Members who serve half-time receive a living allowance and a $2,865 education award. AmeriCorps is not employment.
