Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP)

Team Member Needed for STEP’s Early Learning Pathway to Success

PCHP Home Visitor

Part-time, Union County position. Visits enrolled families in their home at least twice per week to provide early literacy services to two- and three-year-old children and their parents. Stimulates parent-child verbal interaction, helps children develop language and literacy skills, and supports parents as their child’s first teacher. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or GED; associate degree in early childhood, child development or human services, and experience in home visiting are preferred. PA Act 33 Criminal and Child Abuse Clearances, F.B.I. background check, and a valid driver’s license and vehicle available for daily use with adequate insurance and seat restraints are also required.

Residential Construction Laborer

Performs tasks and assignments across a broad range of new and rehabilitation-related construction projects, either independently, with an assigned work crew and/or in conjunction with other Construction Supervisors allocated to the project. Construction activities include those designed to increase energy efficiency, health, safety, accessibility and affordability; examples of these activities include, but are not limited, to major renovations such as bathroom, kitchen, accessibility improvements, structural repairs and other major building component projects. Minimum requirements include the following: high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and, a minimum of two years of experience or technical training in construction, building trades, or other related discipline sufficient to demonstrate a thorough understanding of construction theory and techniques such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, physical plant maintenance, or any combination of education and experience, sufficient to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Team Member Needed for STEP's Independent Living Pathway to Success

Care Manager/Assessor I

This entry-level position provides assessment and care management services to arrange in-home services for senior citizens with disabilities and support to family caregivers and other services to enable senior citizens to remain independent or assist them in choosing and entering an appropriate facility to care for them. Position develops care plans through an evaluation of the senior citizen’s social contacts and supports, their activities of daily living, status of their cognitive functioning, their physical health and their economic and other resources. Work is carried out according to established practices, procedures and precedents, but may require some independent judgment; advice is sought or provided with situations that are more difficult. Minimum qualifications include the following: bachelor’s degree in social work with one year experience in public or private social work that involves comprehensive and/or psychosocial assessments is preferred; at minimum, bachelor’s degree in a related area with the one year of experience described above, or a licensed Registered Nurse with one year of experience, preferably involving home health services, or in a program performing comprehensive functional and/or psychosocial assessments.

STEP, Inc. is seeking a qualified professional interested in providing vision, positive leadership, and oversight to STEP’s Head Start and related Early Learning Pathway programs. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for comprehensive, integrated planning, systems design and implementation, programmatic and services coordination, monitoring and reporting, as well as promoting and furthering the values and mission of STEP, Inc. Minimum requirements: master’s degree in social services, child development, business administration or a related field and at least three years of related experience; or, a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of related experience. Five additional years of related experience in government, education, or human services, and three years of administrative, supervisory, and management experience are also required.

Salary is based upon experience, starting and ranging from $55,000 to $60,000 annually.

AmeriCorps Members Needed

Community Collaboration Pathway to Success

STEP’s Community Connect AmeriCorps is currently recruiting members to begin service mid-to-late September. AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards in exchange for a year of community service. Full-time members who complete their service earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,550 to pay for college, graduate school or vocational training at eligible institutions, pay back qualified student loans or if member is at least 55 years of age at beginning of service term, may transfer award to child, grandchild or foster child. AmeriCorps members receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance, student-loan forbearance, health coverage, and child care for those who qualify while participating.  Members who serve part-time or quarter-time receive a partial Award and a living allowance. AmeriCorps is not employment.
