STEP Office Of Aging

STEP Office of Aging provides services to keep senior citizens active in the community and help them remain in their homes.

10 senior centers offer wellness and recreational activities, congregate and home-delivered meals. In-home services begin with and are monitored through assessment and casework activities. Seniors may be eligible for personal care, housekeeping tasks, meals-on-wheels, home modifications and repairs, and family caregiver support . Protective services investigate and intervene in abuse, neglect, self-neglect, financial exploitation and other risk situations. When appropriate, staff assess individuals for admission to a nursing home. In-home services are provided to nursing home-eligible people to prevent institutionalization. Nursing home transition services help return people to their communities. Staff, volunteer and PEER ombudsmen protect the rights of those in nursing homes and personal care homes. This Office also provides health insurance counseling (by volunteers), and Senior Employment activities.
