STEP Homeownership Counseling

STEP Housing Counseling staff utilize several resources in assisting consumers with their particular housing counseling needs.
Staff provide pre-purchase counseling, education and tools for the home buying process to assist individuals to be better consumers. Individualized advocacy and support throughout the home buying process, and assistance in locating appropriate savings programs and mortgage products are also available.

Staff also help consumers develop action plans to meet their particular homeownership needs, whether it be default and delinquency counseling, loss mitigation, or dealing with predatory lending. Staff then work with lenders on the consumer’s behalf.

Through the Keystone Renovate & Repair Loan Program, staff assist homeowners in prioritizing their home repair spending so that the work that they get done is what their home really needs.

The Family Savings Account Program teaches budgeting and savings skills to consumers, and helps them set goals, such as saving for the purchase of a home, or paying for post-secondary education ,home improvement, or other savings goals eligible under program guidelines.
