Pyramid Model Preschool Module Series: Individualized teaching of social emotional skills- Meets SQ 3.4.4

Session 2 of 2. Applies Toward Act 48

The Pyramid Model is a tiered model that provides of promotion, prevention, and intervention practices which includes teaching children social emotional skills. This module will discuss how intentionally teaching social skills and emotional competencies reduces the likelihood that educators will be responding to challenging behavior. This module will help educators to give children the tools they need to behave differently. We often want to jump to supporting children at the most intensive level of need, without focusing on the necessary social and emotional skills that we can teach. Our responses to challenging behavior, which is our last topic during training, will be most effective when we focus on the prevention of challenging behavior and the promotion of social and emotional competences.
