A Medicare beneficiary reached out to STEP Office of Aging's PA MEDI program because their medication costs drastically increased in 2025. He was referred to the program by a friend who benefitted from PA MEDI in the past. He is a medically complex patient who sees several specialists and takes multiple medications, including high-tier medications. Their current plan estimated the 2025 year out of pocket costs at $36,000. Our PA Medi coordinator was able to meet with the beneficiary to go over providers, prescribed medications, and hospital networks. She was able to get them enrolled in a plan that allowed them to keep all of the current providers and medications. This change saved the beneficiary a total of $35,500 a year, which breaks down into savings of $2,600 a month.
