Work Ready Success Story
T. H. has been enrolled in STEP's Work Ready program for less than 3 months. She came into the program very driven to obtain and achieve her HiSET (high school equivalency credential.) She was enrolled in GED classes years ago, but never had the courage to test. When she enrolled in Work Ready, she expressed her desire to further her education in the health care field. Her caseworker discussed the programs and courses that she could explore once she achieved her HiSET. When T.H signed up for her exams she lucked out that Pennsylvania was offering free testing. T.H was able to get free testing for her HiSET and her diploma within a matter of weeks. T.H is now exploring courses with Pennsylvania College of Technology and Lock Haven University.
Family Navigation Success Story
A.W. has been enrolled in Family Navigation since May. A.W.'s goals included finding housing, getting employment, and finding childcare/summer camp. So far, with the help of her Family Navigator, she has been able to obtain part-time employment, enroll her youngest in childcare, and find a summer camp for her other children. In addition, she is receiving assistance through STEP's Early Learning Resource Center to help with childcare costs. A.W. is also scheduled for an interview as a substitute aide for additional employment. A.W. is very pleased with the support she has received from STEP and looks forward to continuing to work with us!
