Did you know that 1 in 4 children have a vision issue that needs attention before entering kindergarten? To address this need, STEP Head Start is proactive with vision screening! All children have their vision screened during the 2025-2026 program year, here is our current vision data:
142 Children were referred for Vision appointments after being screened with the Vision Spot screener.
60 Children received glasses, patching, or have had follow up on their current glasses’ prescription.
34 Children are being monitored for possible future vision issues with an eye doctor.
36 Children are awaiting their appointments or need scheduled.
6 Children left our program before their appointment.
5 Children didn’t qualify.
